Cellcom is yet another wireless carrier in the United States which has made the new Apple iPhone 5 handset available for purchase on its network, with support for fast 3G connectivity.
Plans for the handset were officially unveiled on Thursday, when the wireless carrier announced a $149 price tag for the 16GB model.
The company will add Apple’s 32GB flavor of the new device to its offering as well, at $249, along with the 64GB variant, which will go for $349.
The carrier has also announced that it will cut the price tag for the existing iPhone 4S to $49, and that the older iPhone 4 will be available for free.
The new iPhone 5 will be available with the signing of two-year contract agreements on the carrier’s individual or family monthly plans starting at $69.95, which includes 2GB of data.
"We've seen the anticipation for iPhone 5 grow and are excited to soon offer our customers this fantastic phone on our network," said Pat Riordan, president and CEO of Cellcom.
iPhone 5 is said to be the most powerful model that Apple has ever released, while offering a nice range of new features and capabilities when compared to previous variants.
"iPhone 5 is the thinnest and lightest iPhone ever, completely redesigned to feature a stunning new 4-inch Retina display; an Apple-designed A6 chip for blazing fast performance; and ultrafast wireless technology-all while delivering even better battery life," the wireless carrier notes.
"iPhone 5 comes with iOS 6, the world's most advanced mobile operating system with over 200 new features including: the all new Maps app with Apple-designed cartography and turn-by-turn navigation; Facebook integration; Passbook organization and even more Siri features and languages."
