On Nokia 6760s, the LCD LED driver chip is mounted on the flex ribbon cable assembly. If the said flex damaged it will also result to a display illuminating light failure. (see picture below..)
Here's some hints on how to fix the Nokia 6760 slide LCD backlight failure problem.
1. Visually check the flex ribbon cable assembly for possible damaged, or try to replace it.
2. Check the LED+ and LED- voltage on the corresponding pins of the LCD connector. If the voltage were okay, the problem may lies on the LCD or the white LED bulb is already damaged, try to replace the LCD.
If the voltage is missing or no readings, the problem may lies on the flex ribbon cable or the components such as the LED driver IC. Try to replace the whole flex ribbon cable assembly if not certain where the trouble is.
3. If the flex seems okay, no signs of scratches, cut or tearing check the VBAT voltage across the inductor coil. If the voltage is okay the possible faulty is the LED driver IC. Manage to replace it.
